About Heatpack / flameless ration heater:
The flameless ration heater from Canland UK Ltd. Were originally developed for military use. Thanks to the flameless technology, military forces are able to heat meals even under extreme conditions, without being exposed to the effects of flames and open fires. Another military variant allows to heat a MRE meal in the leg pocket. With a suitable neoprene bag (self-construction) this would also be conceivable in the civilian sector.
Meanwhile, the flameless heater / heat packs for MRE (Meal ready To eat) have also found their way into the sport and leisure area, as well as the use in rescue services and disaster control.
Flameless heaters for MRE are operated by means of a chemical reaction, which takes place after exothermic activation by the addition of a small amount of water, i. Heat (water vapor) is released to the outside. A MRE meal sealed in an aluminum-plastic composite bag is added to the heater in the bag, and the heater itself is activated with a small amount of water. The heat is released over a period of 12 minutes and is sufficient to completely heat the MRE meal.
The chemical reaction in the flameless heater / heat pack is produced by a mixture of aluminum and Calciumoxid. In earlier versions, magnesium was also used.
The flameless heater / heat pack in the bag is used to heat the vacuum-packed MRE (Meal Ready To Eat) meals.
- Activated heat pack becomes very hot. Hot water vapor is produced.
- The activation by water can not be reversed.
- Do not use in the vicinity of open flames or other external heat.
- Use only in well-ventilated rooms.
- Do not use if the heat pack is damaged.
- The flameless heater and the pack are not intended for consumption.
- Dispose of the heat pack only when the heater is activated.
