MRE - Meal Ready To Eat There are 75 products.

Wet food / wet meals
MRE stands for "Meal Ready To Eat" and is a ready-to-eat meal that can be eaten warm but also cold.
The particular difference between outdoorfood and MRE is that outdoorfood is freeze dried and has to be returned to consume water. This does not happen with the MRE / Meal ready to eat. The MRE meals are prepared by the manufacturer, NOT dried, but are equally expedition-proof, or packaged in flexible foil pouches. MRE assure soldiers in the battlefield the food where there is not even a field kitchen.
MRE (Meal ready to eat) could also be called wet food or wet-meals, since the natural water content of the ingredients is preserved. This is the advantage, but also the disadvantage.
Advantages of MRE wet meals:
- Accidentally faster preparation, as also cold ready for consumption
- No additional water requirements (important in low-drinking areas)
- Better chewing experience due to "bigger ingredients"
- On average cheaper price due to elimination of elaborate freeze drying
- Possibly. Greater meat content, techn. due to the elimination of drying
Disadvantage of MRE wet food:
- relatively high weight
The conclusion is that:
If you do not have to carry your food in your backpack, the MRE is an excellent alternative to the freeze-dried outdoorn food.
Whether as an emergency in the car, or as a supply in the sailing ship, kayak or the 4x4 off-road vehicle, the available MREs ensure not only in crisis areas, but also your supply away from civilization - guaranteed!
We refer our MRE directly to the manufacturer.
Thus, we do not offer surplus goods for soldiers and military personnel.
More information on the MRE and why we offer it, can be found at the end of this page ....

What is MRE?

MRE is the abbreviation for "meal ready to eat" and is a self-contained fielding for the members of the US armed forces. The MRE field rations represent food for use in combat, when other organized meals such as the field kitchen are not available. For the first time introduced in 1981, the MRE replaced the existing field arrangements such as the MCI canned goods, etc.
Almost every army has its own field catering, the names are different from country to country. In Germany it is the Einmannpackung (EPA), Australia Combatration Pack (CRP), Denmark: Feltforplejning, former GDR: ice portion (E-portion) or also PIPING COMPOUND concentrate portion (K portion), in Austria: Kaltverpflegung , France: Ration de Combat Individual Rechargeable (RCIR), United Kingdom 24 Hour Operational Ration Pack (ORP), Canada: Individual Meal Pack (IMP), Russia: Individual'nyj razion pitanija - powsednewnyj (IRP-P) (Индивидуальный рацион питания (Green Pack), and in Japan Sento Ryoshoku (闘 糧食 糧食, ie Combatration), the United States military ration, the Meal, the Ready to Eat MRE, the Mountain Ration, the Sweden "Grönpåse" Source: Wikipedia.
If the term MRE in the origin means an extensive package containing different foodstuffs and ingredients for the varied supply over a whole day or a complete meal with dessert, drinks, etc., the term MRE is now used as a synonym for all ready-to-eat meals of military origin.

Why MRE at OutdoorFoodShop?
We have tried through many MREs of this world. The application of the MRE in outdoor leisure is obvious. However, most of the MREs are not officially offered. Some ministries of defense even explicitly point out that MREs are not for sale. Likewise, military rations are subject to their own legal situation; The German food labeling regulation hardly applied to the MRE. Another problem we see is that the MREs available in the market do not come from official sources and therefore usually store some, if not even, years. That does not usually cancel the "supply value", but does NOT meet our requirements.
As a result, we are pleased to have found a powerful partner and equally original equipment supplier with the company OrifO from Denmark.
We refer our MRE directly AB WERK, always produktionsfrisch with min. 2 years shelf life on the OrifO meals.
But the best is always the end:
The MRE of OrifO also taste good!
Many of the MRE we tested could not convince us of their taste.
With the meals of OrifO it was fortunately different and finally led us to offer you the MRE of OrifO.
There's still a military ration do not taste - is not true!
Convince yourself! :-)
